S varanem v posteli (Czech edition)

Product detailed description

This is the Czech edition (S varanem v posteli). The English edition, Darling, There's a Monitor Lizard in our Bed!, is available separately.

A book to amuse children and give their parents a fright! Agáta and Kristián built a house in Sri Lanka – and the animals decided to live there too. A monitor lizard jumps into bed, squirrels nest in a lamp, mice borrow underwear, peacocks stroll through the living room, and Como the dog girl simply turned up and became the family dog.

The animals act, and the people watch. The ease with which the animals walk in makes you wonder: who is actually at home here?

Twelve stories based on real events – true, just a little embellished like fairy tales – for children and for the parents who will read them aloud, and either laugh or shiver. They can also guess: did it really happen or not? The answers come straight away.

Every story includes facts about the animal, so the book also works as a travel guide to exotic wildlife. The world is not always the way we are used to – and that is perfectly fine.

The author and publisher Martina Schneider Králová wrote the book based on her own experiences with the animals in her house in Sri Lanka, which she first told to her little niece Eliška. The illustrations are by Veronika Velčovská Jiroušková, the graphic design by Zuzana Lednická (Studio Najbrt).
